Tony Langdon, a licensed Auctioneer since 1978, specializes in three distinct industries; horses, automobiles and real estate. After graduating from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in December 1979, he immediately joined the American Quarter Horse Association in January 1980. There he represented AQHA at the major quarter horse auctions throughout the United States and Canada by serving on the sales staff for the major auction companies and leading breeders. During this time Langdon, acting as Agent for a prominent quarter horse breeder, negotiated the private treaty sale of a high profile cutting stallion for a near record amount. This transaction prompted his move from Amarillo to Dallas and his departure from AQHA to form Tony Langdon Promotions in 1981.
Tony Langdon Promotions was designed to sell cutting and performance horses, both privately and in innovative sex and age limited auctions. These record setting consignment auctions, held primarily in hotel ballrooms and convention centers, made Tony Langdon Promotions the leading sales company of both cutting and performance horse throughout the 80’s. Tony Langdon Promotions now concentrates on breeder production and dispersal auctions, in addition to serving as Agent for private treaty sales of special individuals, such as the stallion, Hes A Peptospoonful, setting the all-time record for a three-year-old cutting horse.
Switching gears in 1990, Langdon co-founded AutoVest. This unique mobile auto auction concept became very popular with new car dealerships throughout the major metropolitan areas of Texas. The concept was simplistic, being far more cost effective and time efficient for new car franchises to dispose of their wholesale inventory than ever before. AutoVest was recently sold in 2006. Newly formed AuctionAuto sells trade-in and aged inventory for franchise dealer groups in dealer only and special promotion public auctions.
Setting his sites on another product, Langdon founded Tony Langdon Auction Properties in 1999 to sell Texas real estate at auction. Utilizing proven auction principles from his previous experience, all auctions are conducted on the site of the property being sold. This concept dramatically accelerates the sales process, offering you an array of options that are unavailable while using conventional real estate methods. Emphasis is placed on farm and ranch, multi-parcel raw acreage and residential property. In some instances this method of selling real estate at auction can be virtually free of commission.
Tony Langdon is also available as a Contract Auctioneer, or “Auctioneer For Hire” for your upcoming auction. He is a past Texas State Champion Auctioneer and International Auctioneer Championship finalist with over 30 years of auction experience. Whether selling the World Championship Quarter Horse Sale, Mannheim’s “Auction of the Year” Dallas Auto Auction, Kruse International’s world’s largest collector car auction in Auburn, Indiana or million dollar Texas real estate you can expect to get the very best effort from this seasoned professional. Feel free to contact him personally to discuss individual auctioneer contract rates or complete turnkey management fees for the sale of your horses, automobiles (collectible or wholesale) and real estate.
